Switch off snoring with the world’s leading laser technology.
Have you been facing a problem of sleep quality and been complaint by your sleeping partner about the loudness of your sleeping sound? Snoring occurs during your sleep when the structure of your mouth , throat and tongue relax, with subsequent narrowing of your airways.
There are several factors that can contribute to snoring:
- Nasal congestion
- The anatomy of the mouth
- Alcohol consumption
What is the impact of snoring and OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea)?
Snoring has a number of consequences that can impact the life of a snorer and his/her sleep partner. Sleep deprivation as a result of snoring has a negative impact on health and quality of life. Snorers with OSA can experience tiredness, morning headaches, irritability, dry mouth and relationship difficulties. Studies have also shown a link between snoring and an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
What are the snoring treatment options?
Most treatments for snoring and OSA attempt to keep the breathing passage open. Specially made dental appliances can be effective, but rely on daily compliance. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) systems are often used to help control sleep apnea and the snoring associated with it, however these devices can be very uncomfortable. There are surgical options available for correcting snoring which usually involve removal of tissue from the uvula and pharynx but these surgeries are invasive and can result in a lengthy and uncomfortable recovery period following the surgery.
The diagram above shows various airway sizes. The closer the soft palate gets to the tongue, the smaller the airway and the greater potential for snoring. A class I airway is much better than a class IV airway. The goal of Fotona Nightlase treatment is to increase airway size and decrease tissue turbulence. Going from a class IV to III, or from a class III to I would be considered a successful treatment.
How does Fotona Nightlase work?
Fotona laser snoring treatment (Nightlase) helps to reduce the effects of sleep apnea and decreases the amplitude of snoring by means of a gentle, laser induced tightening effect caused by the contraction of collagen in the oral mucosa tissue. A full course of laser snoring treatment consists of 3 separate treatment sessions over a 6 week period. The final results of the treatment have been shown to last up to a year, and the therapy can be repeated. Studies have shown the treatment to be comfortable and a satisfying solution. It requires no device to be worn during sleep and involves no chemical treatment. Thus, it’s a gentle and easy way way for you to regain a good night’s rest.
* Fotona Dynamis laser system family has been cleared by the US FDA for ENT surgery, intra-oral soft tissue ablation, coagulation, excision and incision, and laser assisted uvulopaletoplasty (LAUP).
